We treat a range of difficulties, including depression, anxiety, trauma, OCD, borderline personality disorder, couples and family issues, substance abuse, eating disorders, misophonia, and perfectionism. In addition, we are committed to providing outstanding training to graduate practicum students, post-doctoral fellows, and other learners in the mental health field.

Why work with us:

Values. We are a highly collaborative practice comprising clinicians who are dedicated to excellence in clinical care and training. We have a shared value system that emphasizes curiosity, growth, and compassion, as well as giving back to the community. We push ourselves to be better therapists and team members, bringing in outside consultants when needed to ensure that we have cutting-edge knowledge and training.

Salary, Benefits, and Support. We offer competitive pay, malpractice insurance, access to health/vision/dental insurance, and a matching 401k program, as well as flexible work hours and the ability to provide telehealth if desired. We provide strong administrative support (i.e., billing, invoicing, scheduling, etc.) so that clinicians can focus on providing clinical and teaching services. We are well connected in the Triangle area, have a strong referral base, and collaborate regularly with a range of psychiatrists, educational consultants and therapists.

Location. We are located in the affordable and vibrant city of Durham, NC (#10 Place to Live in the US), which has outstanding food, culture, and sports. Durham is centrally located in North Carolina, with excellent access to beaches on the eastern side of the state and mountains on the western side. We are located approximately 15 minutes from the Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU).

Excellence in DBT. The DBT program is directed by Drs. Kathryn Byars and Lorie Ritschel, both of whom are certified through the DBT-LBC. Dr. Ritschel is a trainer of DBT through Behavioral Tech, LLC. In 2021, we achieved program certification from the DBT-LBC; in addition, we are extremely proud to have six clinicians who are board certified by the DBT-LBC. We offer a comprehensive DBT program for adolescents (middle and high school) and adults that is implemented with fidelity to the model, and we offer the DBT-PE protocol for Stage 1 clients who meet criteria for both BPD and PTSD. We also offer DBT skills training groups for neurodivergent adolescents.

Opportunities to Train. We offer a comprehensive training program in DBT for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, and we are launching additional training opportunities in the Unified Protocol and exposure-based therapies. Depending on degree and licensing, the successful applicant would be able to provide supervision and didactic training as part of this program. In addition, we are an APA-approved CE provider and have the opportunity to support a number of training activities in-house.

Interested applicants should submit the following materials:

1.  Brief (1-2 pgs) cover letter outlining your experience and how you think you would fit in at TAP
